The Minnesota State Arts Board is a state agency that stimulates
and encourages the creation, performance, and appreciation
of the arts in the state.

2007 Series Presenter Support
Applications and instructions are now available. Application
deadline is Wednesday, March 15, 2006.
Arts
in Education Organizational Support
FY 2007 Interim Application electronic
submission is now available. Applications must be submitted
by or before April 3, 2006.
Arts
in Education School Support
FY 2007 application materials are now available. Public
schools throughout the state, that want to sponsor an
must be submitted by or before April 3, 2006.
K-12
Arts Challenge Minnesota
Application materials for the 2006-2007 school year are
now available. Public schools, outside the seven county
metro area, that haven’t received a School Support
grant in the past three years, are encouraged to apply.
Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis from
April 3, 2006, to March 30, 2007.

Across the country, states are turning
to arts-based economic development strategies to
revive rural economies stung by geographic isolation,
infrastructure deficiencies, and the flight of skilled
workers to big cities, according to a new issue
brief from the National Governors Association Center
for Best Practices (NGA Center).
Incorporating the arts into states' existing
rural economic development policy helps not only
to diversify rural economies but to provide these
previously struggling communities with a competitive
advantage in the 21st century's global marketplace
as well. The brief, Strengthening

documents how states utilize a variety of arts-focused
policies to create jobs and improve quality of
life.
