Alberta Craft Council Fine Craft Awards ACC
Fine Craft Award Nominees An exhibition featuring
the winners and nominees of the 2005 ACC Fine Craft Awards September
10 - November 19, 2005 The
Awards will be presented at a special Awards Celebration in Calgary at Art Central
on Thursday, October 6th ~ 5:00 - 8:00 pm . Art Central is located at 100
- 7 Avenue SW, Calgary, AB and will be hosted by Andrea Marantz Award
of Excellence Presented annually to an established Alberta craftsperson
who excels in his/her area of craft. This year four deserving craftspeople have
been nominated by their peers to receive this recognition. The nominees are:
Dana Roman , and studio potter Diane Sullivan . Award
of Honour Presented to a volunteer/supporter/teacher/craftsperson
(individual or group) who has made a significant contribution to Alberta's Fine
Craft Culture. Artist, goldsmith and educator Charles Lewton-Brain was
nominated for this award in 2005 The
Linda Stanier & Family Memorial Award The Alberta Craft Council
is also pleased to announce a significant new award. Since the passing of Linda
Stanier in May 2004, her family has worked with the Edmonton Community Foundation
and the Alberta Craft Council to establish this permanent endowed award. Five
John Chalke , Dawn Detarando and Brian McArthur (nominated
together), Bradley Keys , Connie Pike and Diane Sullivan And

October 6, 2005 over 150 members and friends attended First Thursday at Art
Central in Calgary and took in our 2005 ACC Fine Craft Awards presentation.
Host, Andrea Marantz and Chair, James Lavoie presented awards for Achievement
(in recognition of early achievement and/or demonstrated potential), Excellence
(in recognition of an established craftsperson who has excelled in their craft),
Honour (presented to a volunteer, supporter, teacher, craftsperson who has made
a significant contribution to Alberta's Fine Craft Culture) and the Linda Stanier
